SENIOR LECTURER IN RUMINANT MEDICINE

Sam was in the foundational year of the new BVSc program at James Cook University and graduated in 2010. He then spent six years in a dairy practice located in the Atherton Tablelands, QLD. During that time he completed his Masters of Veterinary Medicine through Massey University and sat board exams with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in dairy practice.

Sam then moved to Minnesota to do a PhD under Sandra Godden in applied veterinary epidemiology. He was involved in conducting field trials and observational studies to evaluate practical and sustainable ways for dairy farmers to reduce antibiotic use.
Sam has a keen interest in the management of diseases on dairy farms with an emphasis on mastitis and antibiotic stewardship as well as applied epidemiology, causal inference and biostatistics.
